Ashland press release on BIOREMIA, David (ESR 10)- employed at Ashland- & the 2nd Industrial Workshop, held in Dublin (Ireland) March 27 - 31, 2023.
Kirti (ESR 7) participated in a 3-min PhD thesis competition at UNITO, winning the first round among 12 participants. In Sept.2023 Kirti will represent the University Turin in Pau (France) for the inter-university competition (UNITA Geminae - a cooparation of mainly romance language sister universities), Turin, Italy, June 2023.
Armourers and Brasiers’ Cambridge Forum 2023organized by UCAM, on 20.06.2023: The ESR5 and ESR6 (together with their supervisors) organized the ‘BIOREMIA booth’ at this Forum. Many students participated with posters about their PhD projects. This event typically has a remarkable international coverage.
ESR 3 and her supervisor took part in the web collection "Celebrating International Women’s Day: Women in Materials Science", 8 May 2023.
ESR 5 and ESR 6 wrote a featured article, entitled “The Kneed for Antibacterial”, on the March 2023 edition of Materials World, The health issue 2023 (journal for the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3).
ESR 2 represented BIOREMIA at the Final conference of BreakBiofilms EU ITN project, 16-18 January 2023, Vienna, Austria.
ESR 5 presented his research to 50+ members of Sidney Sussex College during an invited Postgraduate Seminar Dinner event, Cambridge, UK, 20 October 2022.
ESR 11 & 12: Try-on-research UGOT (Sweden) (29.08.2022 – 30.11.2022): A medical doctor from the Sahlgrenska University Hospital performed a secondment at the Department of Biomaterials under the supervision of Associate Professor Margarita Trobos and BIOREMIA members Adam Turner and Paula Giraldo.
ESR 11 &12: Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Research Gothenburg (CARe Meeting 2021 and 2022). In 2021 ESR 11 went as a member, in 2022 Adam and Paula presented their work and represented BIOREMIA in 2022 alongside ESR12, ESR3 and ESR 14.
European Researchers Night, 29.09.2022: ESR 7 participated in Turin (Italy). During the event, she had the opportunity to disseminate the BIOREMIA project and to engage different age audiences. With her guests she played a guessing game about the type of implants and their body location.
As part of the MSCA Falling Walls 2022 edition, ESR 10 made a video presentation and oral pitch in front of and international panel of judges from academia, industry, and policy makers.
ApertaMenteChimica: ESR 7 participated in this Chemistry Department-open day held on 14 May 2022, organized by University of Turin, Italy. ESR 7 communicated and disseminated her research activities and BIOREMIA project to public, school, and university students where on an average ESR 7 interacted with 35 people of various age groups.
ESR 6 gave a talk about „Tackling bacterial infections of orthopaedic implants as a material scientist” at the MCR/SCR reseach day 2022 at Robinson College, Cambridge.
ESR 6 presented his work during the annual Postgrad Seminar at the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge, UK.
ESR 12: PRAO, 14-18 March 2022, Gothenburg (Sweden) - Practical working life orientation for school children. Paula Giraldo trained a student from 9th year in science and laboratory work. The students gain knowledge about working life before future study and career choices.
ESR 6 gave a talk during the virtual seminar of the Bone Research Society (BRS) titled „Substituted Apatites” on 22.02.2022.

BIOREMIA fellows as MSCA Ambassadors: In order to promote their research in the BIOREMIA project in their country of origin each ESR has presented her/his individual project in form of a short video in their mother language acting as MSCA Ambassadors.
For an annual Irish Scientific Journalism Award (2021), the ESR 10 made a video about good and bad sides of viruses.

- She figures 2021 - Gender in research and innovation: statistics and indicators
Equality between women and men is one of the EU’s founding values. Since the European Commission’s ERA Communication of 2012, gender equality in research and innovation (R&I) as a priority has been strengthened progressively. The She Figures 2021 publication uses the latest available statistics to monitor the state of gender equality R&I across Europe and beyond, through providing comparable data and analysis for approximately 88 indicators. The data follow the ‘chronological journey’ of women from graduating from doctoral studies to participating in the labour market and acquiring decision-making roles, while exploring differences in women’s and men’s working conditions and research and innovation output.
