David Zermeño received his Bachelor’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi (Mexico) in 2017. In 2019 he completed his Master’s studies in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocesses with specialization in Biomaterials Science and Engineering.

His Master’s degree thesis project was focused on synthesis and characterization of polymeric nanoparticles for controlled release of anticancer drugs. During his studies, David had internships and worked for short periods as a research assistant at Natrium Mexico, Colgate Palmolive and Roofa Spa (Mexico), being interested in developing a career in an industrial environment.

He joined the BIOREMIA Network in September 2020 as an Early-Stage Researcher at Ashland Specialties Ireland Ltd, being enrolled in a PhD programme at University College Dublin (Ireland).

His PhD project in BIOREMIA is focused on sustainable manufacturing of anti-fouling and anti-bacterial bioresorbable PEG-polymer coatings for implantable medical devices and nanotube-based drug delivery system.
